Please can I ask how often people change their strings. Apart from putting a low G on my concert ukulele the other strings have been on since I bought the ukulele a year ago.

I tend to change every six months on a well used ukulele. One good way to check how worn they are is to run your nail along the underneath side of the string. If you feel lots of divots it’s a good time to re-string.
