WE’RE BACK!

After our summer adventures, Kanikapila Monday returns on Monday 7th September at 6pm UK time — we’re returning with two classic songs we did way back when and what better theme for our first night back than songs about returning home?

This week we’ll be learning and playing:

Homeward Bound – Simon & Garfunkel

Slight Return – The Bluetones

Two absolutely beautiful songs from very different eras — but with a rather perfect connection for our WE’RE BACK! night.

Along the way we’ll dig beneath the chords and explore some really useful musical ideas.

THIS WEEK’S TECHNIQUE

Alternating Thumb Picking

We’ll look at how an alternating thumb can give your fingerpicking a lovely steady pulse and help make even quite simple picking sound wonderfully musical.

EXPANDING OUR SCALES

We’ll also take the familiar little pentatonic shapes we’ve been using and start expanding them into full major scales.

That means more notes, more melodic possibilities and another step towards really understanding your way around the ukulele fretboard.
