General uke discussion

I'm a total beginner and just watched the video about how to hold a ukulele and using a strap.

The strap that came with my ukulele doesn't look like the one Matt has in his video though and I don't get how to apply it to the top of the ukulele. I put one end on the bottom peg and it had a hole for that. The other end of mine has thick strings, not a button and hole. I am not sure how you are supposed to tie on these strings. Can someone help me with that?
