Chord Personalities Q

I'm plotting out chord numbers for a song (Roving Woman by Connie Converse, in G) and noting chord personalities in the boxes to familiarize myself with those. Question: sometimes the ii chord is a minor (Am) and sometimes it's a major (A). I've seen that before and didn't think much about it, but now I'm wondering how that change affects the chord's personality? So, now I'm in a chord personality rabbit hole!

That’s a great question Barbara. This one is easily solved but only when you know that the bridge sections to this actually modulate to a new key. When the song is played in the key of G the bridges modulate to D major. So in the verses the Am are acting as the ii to G but in the bridges the A’s are acting as the V to D. Hope that makes sense and helps. Cheers, Matt
